Scientists measured both chimps and humans while walking (upright and on all fours for the chimps) and discovered that one of the reasons our ancestors walked upright was to conserve energy and to keep cool.

I never thought of that before, but it makes perfect sense, Pat. A lot more room for heat to radiate off. And of course - the main site for that is the top of the head.
